MTG Coldsnap opinions.?

to all those that play MTG what are your thoughts on the coldsnap expansion set? Im seeing alot of good cards alto alot of these cards are kind of costly. Take for instance Controvert, with mana acceleration its a great idea (since youll have enough mana to pay the recover cost) but it seems like the cards are costly enough. your thoughts
