What is it like to live at Toronto's Harbourfront?

Am in love with South Beach Marina Townhouses and (upcoming) Condos. In fact, I am looking at several watefront options. What is it like to live there? Things I care most about are Safety, Schooling (two elementary school age kids) as well as access to supermarkets. Any Torontian opinions much appreciated!
