What is the process of importing goods for resale by air?

I found a product that I want to resell in the United States however I want to purchase a very small amount to make sure it will sell (maybe 50 units). The product is small enough to where everything can be loaded in one box and shipped by air. Since the product is in volume and for resale, is the process still the same as far as tariff fees, etc. goes? I am new to import/export so any help would be appreciated.
